A year of searching, soft retreat, and grounding through texture.

In 2022, life felt more transient. I moved houses and studios a few times, and with that came a sense of disorientation that spilled into my creative practice. I found myself needing to step back — to slow down, listen, and marinate on the ideas that had formed the year before. I returned often to my inner world, building it piece by piece, letting the dust settle.

Earth became a comfort. I refined my palette to reflect the land I call home — red dirt, ochres, dusty blue skies, soft greys and browns — colours that grounded me when everything else felt uncertain.

I began introducing texture into my work, adding sand, bicarbonate soda, and grainy layers that spoke to the landscapes I was longing to feel steady in. This was also the first time I painted my dog — she became a symbol of safety and comfort, a presence I wanted to capture and return to.

My personal philosophy continued to flow through these pieces as I searched for ways to make meaning out of the movement.
